ABATE of Florida Inc SOUTHWEST CHAPTER
Chapter Chaplain Tom
Dear Fellow ABATE Members:
Bikers Can Help Minister
to Other Bikers in Crisis
The last few weeks have been a time of crisis to some of our bikers within Southwest
Florida. Some of the situations have turned into tragedies.
There are some instances that have taken place, where it was too late for us to try and
intervene. We had no idea some situations were taking place until after-the-fact.  There are
probably situations going on right now that some people just don’t want us there and/or feel
that we have no business being involved in.  And, that’s okay.
However, some of you are close to situations and know what’s going on. And, some of you
may be personally experiencing situations in which you feel that you are ready to burst
and/or explode.
As bikers, we have a very special bond because of a lot of the special things that we do
together.  We are definitely a family.  Because of that, we would ask that we really hold on to
each other. We need to take care of each other, because we as bikers, many times feel that
we don’t have nor can count on many outsiders in this world to help us. One thing we find is
that many of us hold too much in. Please don’t be afraid to talk things out with each other if
something is bothering you.  If that does not help, seek out an advisor or a professional who
can help. Don’t be afraid to seek it out and say, “Here’s my problem. What can I do to work
this out?”
At the same time, we would ask that you would seek the Lord. It is a part of our human
nature that to one degree or another, we ALL have voids and problems in our lives which
need to be dealt with.  The voids and problems in our lives arise from the sinful nature that
comes from the beginning of the human race; since Adam and Eve in their prideful rebellion
decided to disobey God in the Garden. They were tempted by the devil, away from the easy
path that God had provided for them.  Human nature does not seem to have changed since.
Instead of letting drugs, wrong thinking, and other destructive behaviors fill whatever voids
we have, why not let God fill those voids?  If we consume destructive items to fill the
voids, then eventually they will begin to consume us. If we accept God, receive his Son
Jesus into our lives, believe in Him, and let Him begin to consume us, then we can begin to
believe in and receive God’s promises. Jesus said, “I came to give you life and to give it
more abundantly.”
Here are some of God’s promises and admonitions, to help:
1.  1 Corinthians 10:13 -
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that
ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be
able to bear it.  He promises that He will help you to find a way out of any temptation and
that He will not let you be tempted beyond anything which you cannot handle.
2.  Hebrews 13:5-6 - …and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath
said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is
