ABATE of Florida Inc SOUTHWEST CHAPTER
EDITOR’S 2 CENTS
the summer monsoons are upon us and we
have to be more alert than ever out their on
the highway of cages. The wet weather puts
another layer of stress and danger on the
riding scenario as a whole. Remember that one of the primary goals of the
Abate organization is to promote safety, safety while we ride whether as a group or
individually. We always need to set an example for all to witness, from cages to
pedestrians as well as other motorcyclists. Abate and the MSF has great information
to be acquired on their respective websites. I along with Ron Berg and Robb Rabell
will have safety articles in the monthly newsletter as well.
The turn out for the elections was meager at best; fortunately we had enough
participation to elect a diligent and qualified board. Let us all rally behind them as we
all make a unified team effort to move this chapter forward to realize its goals for the
coming term. It would be nice to see new faces not only at the meetings, but at the
events which are the lifeblood of this chapter’s survival. I am very proud of this
organization and its accomplishments, as I know many of you are, the thing is to be
proud and show it, live it, and you will learn to love it, as I do. Set an example for the
community to see and experience. This will not only promote safety, but will show
the naysayers we are right and proud of it.
On a happy note with regard to our brothers whom have been not so good from a
health standpoint. Dan Jackson’s brain surgery went perfectly well, he is up, around
and doing great. Wish him well he would love to hear from you. Also, Tony (Rage)
Marchese is out of the hospital and doing fine.
Hopefully we will all stay on the
greener side of things for awhile.
This coming month has a lot of great events to offer. Remember our “Five Star
Event” that is going to be a 3 day BikeFest, from great food to live music, from what I
understand a phenomenal band is performing, and all your favorite vendors. Also,
Harley Davidson of Fort Myers is having their 4th of July Bash, so do not miss that,
as well as numerous other events. Remember your participation is what makes
these events possible.
Also, Chaplain Tom and his lovely wife are having a special Bible Fest at their home
on August 1st, they are expecting a large turnout, it is the Chaplain’s birthday, and I
understand he is having a special guest, so come and check it out. Check out the
flyer for more information and his sermon in this newsletter.
Well fellow riders of the great iron horse, until next month; Keep the shinny side up,
the dirty side down, look before you move around.
